Austria, and particularly Vienna, occupy a siginificant place in coffee's history. During the 17th century following the historic defeat of the invading Turks, Vienna became one of the main gateways of coffee into Western Europe and resulted in the opening of the first coffeehouse in Europe, the Blue Bottle. Austria's Rohrmoos Tal, near Schladming, was also the conceptual birthplace of Alpen Sierra.
