Cupping Notes: One of the first new crop arrivals out of Guatemala for this 2012 season and a sweet, clean coffee at that.
Luis Pedro Zelaya, Patron and owner of the Bella Vista family farm and mill, meticulously produces this coffee, growing arabica varietals of Caturra and Catuai, in the New Oriente region of Guatemala in the Sierra del Merendon mountains. The coffee shrubs are grown under naural shade in a forest comprised of various varieties of the Ingas. The cherries are hand picked at peak ripeness, wet processed and mechanically dried in the cylindrical dryers known as guardiolas.
This coffee is rich with a flavor of peaches and stone fruits with chocolate overtones. The cup exhibits a bright acidity, full body, and clean, lingering finish.
